Avant-Art Ask the Experts, the artist, the collector, the gallery owner and the appraiser, about beginning an art collection, will be held on Thursday, Oct. 18, 6 p.m. at the Hunter Museum.
Art lovers who would like to become collectors will have information answered about how to start a collection, the right pieces to invest in, whether to buy what you love, and how the art will look in a home in 20 years.
The panel will include Verina Baxter - art collector and artist (exhibitor in Chattanooga Gems), James McKissic - art collector and artist (exhibitor in Chattanooga Gems), Melissa May Peirano - artist and gallery owner and Lucinda Wyeth - fine art and antiques appraiser. The moderator will be Ellen Simak - curator of the Hunter Museum of American Art.
Participants will learn how to start a collection and view the Chattanooga Gems III exhibition featuring works from private collections throughout Chattanooga.
Admission for this program is free for Avant-Art members and members of the Hunter Museum. General admission for non-members is $9.95 per adult.
