Walker County Write-In Candidate Campbell Says She Is Getting Input From Cove Residents

Saturday, October 20, 2012

Ales Campbell, write-in candidate for sole commissioner of Walker County, is the speaker for a meeting of residents of the Cove Area in Walker County.

She will speak to the group today (Saturday) at 6 p.m. at the Cedar Grove Community Center, 5423 West Cove Road.

She said this week her supporters assembled and mailed to the 560 Cove residents a questionnaire developed by herl about the future of the historic community, campaign information, and a special invitation to the community meeting on Saturday evening.

"McLemore Cove and Mountain Cove Farms are beautiful places I'd love to see preserved. I want to know what the residents of this community and Walker County see for the future of the area," Ms. Campbell said she told farm employees and Cove residents while visiting Mountain Cove Farms this week.

The purchase of Mountain Cove Farms was a process that began over 10 years ago, according to the county's attorney, Don Oliver, in a letter mailed to candidate Campbell. Ms. Campbell said, "I believe most taxpayers of Walker had no idea there was a purchase happening until after it was completed in 2008, and had minimal input into the improvements made to the property and the goals for its current usage. That lack of communication is a key area I want to see improve.
"
"I hope to receive back every questionnaire on Saturday night or within a week. It is important to me to know what the Cove residents want for their community," Ms. Campbell said.

Roy Exum: Hypocrisy And Horses

I am still wincing over the fact a horrendous bill passed in the state legislature that would make whistle-blowers into criminals would have actually gone into law had it not been for Governor Bill Haslam’s eleventh-hour veto. Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
