Artis Lee Mullinax, 80, of Cleveland, TN, died on Friday, October 19, 2012 at his home. 

Mr. Mullinax was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Cohutta, GA. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Korea. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Mullinax; son, Anthony Mullinax; and his parents, William A. Mullinax and Nina Goodner Mullinax. 

Survivors include his daughters, Rita Lee (Kenny) of Ooltewah and Rhonda Combs (Bob) of Cleveland; one cherished as a daughter, Debi Powers (Randy) of Cleveland; grandchildren, Justin Maples, Brian Combs and Heather Zumstein; great-grandchildren, Isaac Maples, Will Maples, Toby Zumstein and Grace Zumstein; sisters, Faye Chadwick of Cleveland and Ruth Millsaps of Charlotte, NC; and several nieces and nephews. 
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, October 22, in the chapel of Fike Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Wilds and Pastor Edmon Stallings officiating. Interment will follow in Hopewell Cemetery in Cohutta, with military honors. Freddy Crumley, Sid Posey, James Burch, Jim Garrett, Justin Maples and Brian Combs will serve as pallbearers. A white dove release ceremony will conclude the service. 

His family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, October 21, at the Fike Funeral Home who has charge of the arrangements.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Dr, Chattanooga, TN 37416.


Heuser, Valetta Jean (Rock Spring)

Valetta Jean Heuser, 93, of Rock Spring, died on Monday, May 20, 2013 in a local hospital. Hayden Lamar Lasley, 60, of Hixson, died on Monday, May 20, 2013.   He was a longtime area girls softball coach for more than 35 years.
