Five Local Volleyball Teams Prep For State Tournament In Murfreesboro

Boyd-Buchanan, East Hamilton, Red Bank, Ooltewah and Baylor are gearing up for the 2012 TSSAA state volleyball tournament starting Wednesday in Mufreesboro.

The Lady Bucs (30-13) get the local contingent off and running at 10 a.m. (Eastern time) on Wednesday at Middle Tennessee State University with an opening Class A match against Knoxville Grace (34-17). The winner of that match advances to a match against the Madison-Eagleville winner at 4 p.m.

In Class AA, East Hamilton (33-18) plays Dyersburg (44-9) at noon at Blackman High School. The winner will take on the Christian Academy of Knoxville-Page winner at 4:30 p.m. at Blackman.

Red Bank (38-9) takes on Goodpasture (41-3) at 3 p.m., also at Blackman High, and that winner will play the Chester County-South Greene winner at 6 p.m.

Ooltewah (35-18) challenges Columbia (28-11) at 11:30 a.m. in a Class AAA match at Siegel High School and the winner moves on to face the Bartlett-Brentwood winner at 4 p.m.

In Division II-AA, Baylor (34-12) plays Battle Ground Academy (32-11) at 1 p.m. at MTSU. The winner goes on to play the St. Agnes-Harpeth Hall winner at 12:30 p.m. at Siegel High.

The championship matches in each division are scheduled for Friday at MTSU.
