Erlanger Offers Classes And Events For Oct. 29-Nov. 3

Erlanger is offering a variety of classes and events for Oct. 29-Nov. 3. Call Erlanger HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465), Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m.  HealthLink Plus is a free membership program open to adults 18 and older. 

Monday, Oct. 29
Bariatric Support Group
5:30-6:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
Bariatric Support Group meetings are for individuals scheduled to have Bariatric surgery or who have already had weight loss surgery.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) to register.

Childbirth Education
6-10 p.m.
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
This childbirth education class/series is designed for expectant parents and taught by experienced OB nurses.  These classes include stages of labor, relaxation and labor support techniques, hospital procedures, pain management options, after birth and home care for moms and in-hospital care for newborns.  There will also be time for questions and answers.  Registration fee is $75.  Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at  778-LINK (5465) to register.

Wednesday, Oct. 31
Cholestech Lipid and Glucose Screening
8 a.m. – Noon
Erlanger East (Gunbarrel Road)
Lipid & Glucose Screening with results while you wait!  A lipid panel will show HDL, LDL, Total cholesterol, non-HDL, cholesterol ratio and triglycerides.  A 12-hour fast is required to produce an accurate result.   No eating or drinking coffee prior to the test, but please drink water the night before and morning of testing. Reservations ARE required, no walk-ins will be taken.  Lipid plus Glucose is $25. Call Erlanger’s HealthLink at 778-LINK (5465) for information.

Thursday, Nov. 1

Life After Loss Support Group
Begins at 1 p.m.
Erlanger Baroness (Oncology Conference Room)
This support group is for those who have lost a loved one due to cancer.  For more information, call 778-5119.

Diabetes Education Class
1:30-4:30 p.m.
Chattanooga Lifestyle Center
This class, which takes place on Mondays and Thursdays, will explore ways to manage diabetes.  Call 778-9400 for more information on physician referral and insurance reimbursement.

Man to Man Support Group
Begins at 5:30 p.m.
Erlanger Baroness (POB Dining Room)
This support group is for spouses, friends and patients who have prostate cancer.  For more information, call 778-5119.

Saturday, Nov. 3

Chattanooga Kids On The Block Receives $2,500 Grant

Chattanooga's Kids on the Block (CKOB) received a $2,500 KiDs grant from Chattanooga Kappa Delta Alumnae Association to help continue to provide personal safety education programs including child abuse prevention programs to local and area children. Senate Health Committee Passes Alexander And Colleagues’ Bill To Fix Responsibility For Safety Of Sterile Compounded Drugs
