Two vocal artists will explore the theme, “A Woman’s Life: A Journey in Song,” in a concert at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, 630 Mississippi Ave., Signal Mountain, on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 5 p.m.
Admission is free, but a freewill offering will be accepted.
The two performers are sopranos Beth DuRoy and Melissa Larkin Schultz. They will take the audience on a musical journey, exploring a woman’s transition from childhood to young love to maturity and, finally, the twilight years through works by Hundley, Laitman, Mozart, Debussy, Schumann, Wolf and Floyd.
Beth DuRoy’s heralded “bright and vigorous” performances include Asheville Lyric Opera, Bethesda Summer Music Festival and Chattanooga Bach Choir.
Melissa Larking Schultz’s voice has been hailed as “shimmering and strong.” She has many opera credits and a strong foundation in oratorio repertoire as well with solo appearance including Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Creation, Brahms’ Requiem and Vivaldi’s Gloria and Magnificat.
The accompanist will be pianist Jason DuRoy, a prize-winning concerto soloist and recitalist, who most recently performed with the UTC Orchestra.
