Zoe Boekbinder Plays At Barking Legs Thursday

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Zoe Boekbinder, returns to Chattanooga on Thursday for the first time since her opening set for Kaki King at Barking Legs Theater last November.   She will be playing at Barking Legs Theatre with guest Alex Thompson at 8 p.m.  Tickets are $10 at the door.

Review for Zoe Boekbinder:
Zoe possesses a masterful command of the live looping station applied to her acoustic instruments and vocals creating harmonies out of thin air in a manner to rival Andrew Bird.   Zoe's performance is an animated cabaret style experience with a vocal range approaching the operatic.  Her complex lyrics and sense of humor keeps audiences leaning forward to catch every word.

An Oakland, Ca. based performer,  Zoe has been perpetually on tour for nearly a decade, sharing stages with acts such as Amanda Palmer, the Dresden Dolls and The Ditty Bops.  Her earlier band project "Vermillion Lies" headlined venues such as San Francisco's Great American Music Hall.

Zoe's first full length Album released in Sept. 2009 "Artichoke Perfume" was a collaboration with producer Cesar Alvarez (Brooklyn, NY) of The Lisps.   Her dazzling second full album is called "Darling Specimens."   For more information visit ZoeBoekbinder.com.

This performance will be a full feature by Zoe Boekbinder.  Additionally, Chattanooga musician & songwriter  Alex Thompson has joined the evening's lineup.  Alex will be opening the show with a short set of his original songs and perhaps performing a duet or two with Zoe.  You can listen to his latest collection of original music at http://Alexanders.bandcamp.com.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)

Roy Exum: Aimee Gets New Hands

Aimee Copeland reached for a potato chip and, with a pretty smile, popped it into her mouth and crunched it up. It sounds like nothing but it was an incredible “God moment” just one year after her bout with necrotizing fasciitis capitated the world and left a beautiful young woman with no hands, her left leg removed on one side and a right foot amputated on another. Last May ... (click for more)
