A man who recently entered guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated statutory rape has been arrested for allegedly biting a woman while robbing her.
Larry Vaughn, 46, of 862 N. Orchard Knob Ave., is charged with aggravated robbery in the incident Oct. 15.
Joyce Cayton said she was walking at 1900 S. Kelly St. when a black male approached her. She said he began assaulting her and knocked her to the ground. During the struggle, he bit her left hand and took $14 cash from her.
He ran from the scene toward Orchard Knob.
Two witnesses gave the same story about the incident, and they said the perpetrator was a person they knew - Larry Vaughn.
The victim was shown a photo lineup and immediately identified Vaughn as the man who robbed her.
She had a possible broken ankle and broken finger from the incident.
Chief Magistrate Randy Russell set the bond at $100,000 for Vaughn, who has an extensive criminal record.
In the aggravated statutory rape case, Vaughn was described as a neighborhood "candy man" who had sex with a school girl.
Police said on Sept. 9, 2010, a woman called saying that her daughter had not been seen for several hours. She said she later found the daughter at the home of Vaughn.
The daughter said she was on the way to school when Vaughn offered her some candy. She said after she got into his house, he locked the door and forced her to have unprotected sex twice.
Vaughn denied having sex with the girl.
But police said his DNA was found on the girl's panties.
Vaughn, who initially was charged with two counts of child rape, got a four-year sentence that was suspended. He appeared before Criminal Court Judge Don Poole.
