Lena Mae Mason, 96, of Summerville, Georgia, died on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Mason was born May 13, 1916 in Jamestown, Ala., the daughter of the late Joe Issac Tucker and Lula Ann Burgess Tucker. She was a homemaker. She loved to cook and to do her stitching. She made many beautiful quilts for her family to enjoy. Mrs. Mason had attended Pennville Missionary Alliance Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Dwight “Frog” Mason; a sister, Carrie Tucker; and brothers, Luther Tucker, Frank “Jack” Tucker, and Elbert Tucker.
Survivors include her children, James Mason, Henry and Peggy Mason, Janice and Gary Abernathy, Summerville, Ga., Johnny and Pam Mason, Alice and Mitch Cothran; Gaylesville, Ala.; and Mary Ann and Mike Raines, Summerville, Ga.; brothers and sister-in-law, Max Tucker, Roy and Sue Tucker, Gaylesville, Ala.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Mason Funeral Home with Reverend Sanford DeBerrry and Reverend Carlos Martines officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Betty St. Clair and Carolyn Williams.
Mrs. Mason will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 24.
