Colonel James C. Harding USAF Retired will speak at the Monteagle VFW, Clyde W. Bennett Post #9586 for the Grundy GOP’s annual Veteran’s Tribute event on Sunday at 1 p.m. CDT. Colonel Harding will discuss "the real and present danger that is before us as a nation, as well as the steps to protect ourselves and our future."

Colonel Harding is the 24th most decorated veteran, by points, in U.S. military history. He served as squadron commander for a 400 person unit at Lackland AFB and as an A-1 combat squadron commander in Southeast Asia. He is a command pilot with nearly 5,000 hours of military single-engine flying time, and a master parachutist with 69 jumps. 

Upon retiring from active duty, Colonel Harding turned his focus to the Air Force Junior ROTC program where he was instrumental in organizing and implementing programs in the continental United States as well as at Department of Defense schools overseas.

Sobriety Checkpoints Set For May 31

Four Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority facilities will be closed on Monday, in observance of Memorial Day.  Locations include the Old Dixie Landfill and Convenience Center, McGaughey Chapel Convenience Center, Westside Convenience Center, and the M.L.
