Summer Lanter and Miranda Smith combined for five goals as Soddy Daisy defeated visiting Coffee County, 7-3, Tuesday in a Region 3 semifinal girls soccer match.

Warren County stopped Ooltewah, 5-1, in the other semifinal match.

The victorious Trojans – who travel to Warren County on Thursday for the Region 3 title – got off to another fast start as Smith scored from Lanter in the second minute and again in the 14th minute from Kelsey Henry for a 2-0 lead.

Lanter scored three of the next four goals – Kaley Henry scored the other – for a 6-0 halftime lead.

The Smith duo of Natalie and Miranda had two assists each.

Megan Weller (assist Natalie Smith) scored the final Trojan goal in the 44th minute.

Coffee County then put up a three-spot on the board in the final 24 minutes as Katie Reid scored on a penalty kick (56th minute) and another goal (assist, Alex Ellison) in the 73rd minute.  Reid also assisted on Sarah Monroe’s goal in the 58th minute.

“Soddy Daisy played the ball well and we were out-manned tonight,” said Coffee County coach David Amado.

Trojan coach Moises Drumond stated, “We played okay on offense as I am more concerned with execution rather than a lot of goals.

“We have to improve on our defensive stops and fix that before Thursday’s match. We didn’t do the little things well tonight compared to how we played in last Thursday’s win against Ooltewah.”

Trojan assistant coach Zac Dolberry said, “From now on we have to step on the field and at the end of the match with no regrets.”

Henry Sisters: Kelsey Henry had an assist on Soddy Daisy’s second goal and twin sister Kaley scored her first career goal in the 36th minute for a 5-0 lead.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem - And Response

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)
