"#Life@School" McCallie Fall Play Debuts Thursday

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

This year's fall play at McCallie, #Life@School, a collection of pieces exploring what happens inside and outside of the classroom, will debut Thursday evening.

The performance is a collection of spoken word poetry, monologues, and one act plays which offer glimpses into the world of elementary school classrooms, middle school dances, random encounters with strangers and forgotten adversaries, after school conversations around a dinner table, ten year reunions. Funny and moving, they remind us that, even when we’ve graduated from school, we’re still in the process of growing up.

The production features McCallie students Jameson Barnes, Daniel Condrey, Ash Giddens, Jones Kolbinsky, Michael Nwauche and Raymond Warmsley; and Girls Preparatory Students Kobi Cummings, Story DeWeese and Cameron Ford. Technical masters include Scott Shelton, Philip Stephenson and Roy Tyson.

Presentations are at 7 p.m. Thursday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, in the Black Box of Walker Theater. Admission is free.

Called the “Ag-Gag bill,” similar efforts in other states have also soured because it is no more than a Catch-22 trick to protect those who abuse animals, ... (click for more)
