UTC Blue-Gold Wrestling Match Moved To First Tennessee Pavillion

Wednesday, October 24, 2012

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga wrestling team is set to host its annual Blue-Gold Match this weekend. The Mocs are adding a twist to their yearly scrimmage by moving the mats to the First Tennessee Pavilion and competing in the middle of the tailgating festivities for the football game against No. 2 Georgia Southern.

"The basketball teams did a great job of creating a unique outdoor event that we really wanted to be a part of," stated head coachHeath Eslinger.

"Since they moved their exhibition back to McKenzie Arena next week, we jumped at the opportunity to take our program to the football tailgate and show off Chattanooga Strong."

The Mocs basketball teams set up a full court in the open-air Pavilion for each of the last events, but opted to go back to a traditional Blue & Gold Game on Oct. 30 this season. The wrestlers stepped in to fill the void and will compete in 10 intrasquad matches.

Action begins at 3:00 p.m. (E.D.T.) with a festive weigh-in. The football team will come through for the Moc Walk at 3:45 p.m. and competition will begin immediately after.
