Street Closings Announced For The Weekend

The north end of Quiet Pond Drive from Enclave Bay Drive to number 1443 Quiet Pond Drive will be closed from 4-9 p.m. on Friday, for the Welcome Fall Party. The south end of Quiet Pond Drive at Enclave Bay Drive will be closed to through traffic.

Southbound North Moore Road, between Vannoy Drive and Midland Pike will be closed from approximately 9:40-10:45 a.m. on Saturday, for the VEM Super Saturday March. Detours will be posted.

The eastbound curb lane of Frazier Avenue between the Market Street Bridge and the Walnut Street Bridge will be closed from 8:30-10:30 a.m. on Saturday,for the Hydrocephalus Walk 2012.  Traffic may also be delayed at the intersection of Market Street and 1st Street.

Eastbound 3rd Street from Power Alley to Market Street, the northbound curb lane of Market Street from 3rd Street to Frazier Avenue, the eastbound curb lane of Frazier Avenue from Market Street to the Walnut Street Bridge, Walnut Street from the south end of the bridge to East 3rd Street, westbound 3rd Street from Walnut Street to Chestnut Street, the northbound curb lane of Chestnut Street to Aquarium Way, westbound Aquarium Way from Chestnut Street to Power Alley and Power Alley from Aquarium Way to West 3rd Street will be closed from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, for the Tennessee Valley Start Heart Walk.

The 800 Block of Chestnut Street will be closed from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, for the Chatty Crafty Fall Street Fair.

Reggie White Boulevard, between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park, West 19th Street from Reggie White Boulevard to Chestnut Street, and West 17th Street from Chestnut Street to Broad Street will be closed from 6-11 p.m. on Saturday, for the UTC football game.

The sidewalk on the eastbound side of Frazier Avenue between the Market Street Bridge and the Walnut Street Bridge, the Walnut Street Bridge, and  the walkway along the north side of 1St Street, will be congested with walkers taking part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday. Traffic may also be delayed at the intersection of Market Street and 1st Street. No streets will be closed but motorists are advised to watch for pedestrians in these areas.

Reggie White Boulevard, between West 19th Street and the entrance to the Skate Park will be closed from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Sunday, for the Chattanooga Market.

East 29th Street between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue will be closed from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, for the Fall Harvest Festival.


Library Offers New Baby Bounce Program

The Chattanooga Public Library now offers Baby Bounce, a unique story time for newborns to 18 month-old-children and their caregivers. Baby Bounce story time will have its inaugural presentation on Thursday, May 23, in the storytelling room of the Downtown Library at 10:00 a.m. As babies grow, they learn by interacting, playing, imitating adults and by watching others. ... Weight Limit On Standifer Gap Road Bridge Over Friars Branch Decreased To 6 Tons

The weight limit on the bridge over Friars Branch just west of Woodland Park Baptist Church on Standifer Gap Road has been lowered to six tons for all vehicles. This change is now in effect.    (click for more)

Man Stabbed To Death After Argument

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night. At approximately 11 p.m., Chattanooga Police responded to a stabbing at 101 E 20 th St. where they found the victim, Alexis Lewis, 51, lying on the walkway with a fatal stab wound to his chest. Baker Says City Withdrawal On Riverbend Security Will Make Pin Costs Rise Next Year

Riverbend Festival Executive Director Chip Baker told the Civitan Club on Friday that the city's decision to no longer provide city police officers inside the festival gates will cost pin prices to go up next year.
