Youth For Understanding USA Holds Information Night

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Youth for Understanding USA is holding an information night on Monday, from 6-8 p.m. at the Chattanooga Public Library.

Youth For Understanding (YFU) is a non-profit international educational organization. One of the world's oldest, largest, and most respected exchange organizations, YFU has exemplified excellence in exchange worldwide since 1951, officials said.

Youth for Understanding USA study abroad programs immerse students in the lives, cultures, and communities of a carefully selected host family in one of 40 countries around the globe. Students choose from more than 100 different year, semester, and summer programs including some with special options for language and culture, and music or sports.

The homestay experience is the heart of all YFU programs. By living in a host family in their community, YFU students have the opportunity to change their lives and develop their global perspectives, all while developing strong language and cultural communications skills. It is an opportunity for high school students and recent graduates to not only learn a new language, but to experience – in a year, semester or a summer program – what life is really like in another part of the world.

Officials said, "YFU provides an experience that will forever change how you think of yourself and your view of our global community. Deciding to study abroad means you are ready to embark on a journey of discovery that will last a lifetime."
