East Hamilton Defends Region Soccer Title

The East Hamilton Lady Canes scored early but not often Thursday night in their region 3A/AA championship match with McMinn Central.  The stingy Chargerettes fought hard after finding themselved down 1-0 early but could not find the equalizer. 

East Hamilton scored in the 4th minute when Megan Walker sent a cross  to Jordan Kaset whofinished it for the 1-0 lead. 

Both teams spent much of the second half at midfield as neither team found many dangorous oppurtunities.

  East Hamilton fought to control the time of posession in the second half as the Chargerettes worked for the tieing goal.  

"McMinn Central is an athletic team with some pace up top," said East Hamilton head coach John Millard. "We didn't make it easy on ourselves.  The match never had a good rythym for us but I give credit to the girls to score early and play organized for the rest of the game."

Both teams advance to sectional play on Saturday. 

McMinn Central will play at Region 4A/A winner Notre Dame and CCS will travel to East Hamilton.
