Baylor and GPS both posted wins Friday to advance to the D-II AA girls soccer state semifinals next week at GPS.

Baylor 5, Brentwood Academy 0

Early Friday evening Baylor girls soccer coach Jimmy Weekley said that his players had not scored a goal in practice all week.

Baylor seniors Hagan Harman and Gracey Prater made sure that that scenario did not  continue against visiting Brentwood Academy as they combined for three goals (Harman 2, Prater 1) in a 5-0 Red Raider win in a D-II AA state soccer quarterfinal match Friday.

Junior Maggie Crumbliss and sophomore Rachel Payne also scored goals, while assists went to Prater (2), Harman, Brittany Reid and Marci Carter.

"I am pleased with our play today after a sub-par week of practice," said coach Weekley. "We made good passes and made the goals when we created the chances to score."

Prater opened the scoring with her goal in the third minute, followed by Harman's first goal in the ninth minute for the 2-0 halftime lead.

Harman (49th minute), Crumbliss (50th) and Payne (71st) all scored in the second half.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)

Maybe 20 years ago I became entranced by a book called “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.” It was co-authored by a surgeon, Paul Brand, and a Christian writer, Phillip Yancey, and gave one specific after another about the human body and how only God could have created such a miraculous machine. Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
