Saturday, October 27, 2012

UTC has an excellent wrestling-football doubleheader today at Finley Stadium/First Tennessee Pavilion.

The wrestling Mocs have the annual Blue-Gold Match at 4 p.m. at the First Tennessee Pavilion, followed by the Mocs hosting No.2 Georgia Southern at 6 p.m. in adjacent Finley Stadium.

The UTC football team will come through the pavilion at 3:45 p.m. for Moc Walk prior to the wrestlers taking the mat.

This is the first year in which the Blue-Gold Match has been at First Tennessee Pavilion competing in the middle of the tailgating festivities prior to the for the football game.

"The basketball teams did a great job of creating a unique outdoor event that we really wanted to be a part of," stated head coach Heath Eslinger. "Since they moved their exhibition back to McKenzie Arena next week, we jumped at the opportunity to take our program to the football tailgate and show off Chattanooga Strong."

The Mocs basketball teams set up a full court in the open-air Pavilion for each of the last events, but opted to go back to a traditional Blue & Gold Game on Oct. 30 this season. The wrestlers stepped in to fill the void and will compete in 10 intrasquad matches.

Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The crew take many of the parking spots around the park leaving families to park across Frazier and schlep their kids, strollers and picnics to the park. You don't get fireworks ... (click for more)

Maybe 20 years ago I became entranced by a book called “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made.” It was co-authored by a surgeon, Paul Brand, and a Christian writer, Phillip Yancey, and gave one specific after another about the human body and how only God could have created such a miraculous machine. Today the book is a classic and I have marveled ever since over how unbelievable human ... (click for more)
