Fans across the country this week are going online to vote for their favorite music videos in a poll where Chattanooga native and 22Visionz Records artist T-Ran Gilbert is competing to perform before millions on national television. T-Ran is one of 11 artists of diverse cultures and music genres whose videos are vying in Season 2, Episode 4 of Myx TV’s Press Play show. Online voting for Episode 4 videos is October 22-29 at myx.tv.
Myx TV is the Asian-American entertainment and lifestyle network. It airs in over 10 million households, according to its website. Myx TV’s Press Play show “provide(s) an additional platform for emerging artists” to showcase their talents on a national level. The Top 6 videos will be aired on the network. In addition, the overall video winner each week will be flown to the Myx TV studio in Northern California to record a live performance that will also air on the network.
In a video music review published by Myx TV about the Episode 4 artists, Press Play Associate Producer Nicki Sun commended T-Ran, a contemporary Christian artist, for singing from the perspective of his faith. Entertainment correspondent XiXi Yang said T-Ran was “like a young Kirk Franklin.”
“I love the melodies in this song,” correspondent Chris Trondsen said about “Need You Now” in the review. He also said T-Ran had a “very infectious voice.”
T-Ran felt like competing on Myx TV was a “natural fit” because, he said, the network impacts the lives of so many in the Asian-American community of the United States.
“After touring in Mongolia and China in 2010, I was left with a really strong love and affection for Asian culture,” T-Ran said. “Myx TV celebrates Asian-American culture in ways that haven't really been seen until now. That’s what drew me to the show.”
The overall winner for Episode 4 will headline the show that airs on Nov. 30.
