Here is the Chattanooga Parks and Recreation weekly Top 10:

#1  Free Trunk or Treat at Shepherd Center.  Monday, 5-7 p.m. and chili supper. Bring the kids and spoons. Call 855-2697 to donate a pot of chili or truck. Come have fun in a safe and inviting environment.

#2 Free Fall Carnival at Patten Center in Lookout Valley.   Wednesday, 6-8 p.m.  Games, prizes, candy, hot dogs, inflatables and more. Bring the whole family. Call 825-5955 for more information. 

#3 Free Pumpkin Carving Contest - Win Zoo Tickets.  Upload photos of the pumpkin you carved for some great swag from Parks and Rec, including free zoo tickets. http://www.facebook.com/events/397031280365148/

#4 Grand Opening of the Health Trail - Outdoor Fitness Trail.  Monday at 12:30 p.m to celebrate the grand opening of Chattanooga's outdoor fitness trail at Warner Park. UTC, Parks and Rec Staff and more will be on hand to demonstrate.

#5 Head of the Hooch 2012. Saturday and Sunday at Ross's Landing. The Head of the Hooch is a 5000m (3 mile) head race on the Tennessee River ending at Ross's Landing Park. All boats are started sequentially and will race against the clock. The Head of the Hooch is a US Rowing registered regatta. All participating organizations/schools/clubs must be members of the US Rowing Association. Single scullers need not be individual members of USRowing.

#6 The Future is Ours "Language of Life."  Saturday at East Lake Community Center.  Food, music, games, candy, giveaways and fellowship.  Join the Future is Ours staff from 12-3 p.m., free.  

#7 North Chattanooga Community Center Can Food Drive, collecting non perishable food items through the month of November. These items will be given to selected families in North Chattanooga. Stop by the center, Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m. 

#8 Rapid Learning to Roll Practice. Join Outdoor Chattanooga for basic kayaking in a safe, warm environment at MacLellan Gym on the UTC Campus. Two separate sessions, at 6 and 7 p.m. First session is free. Call Ruthie at 643-6888 for more information. All equipment is provided.

#9 Youth Basketball Signups.  For ages 5-18. Boys, Girls, Co-ed. Stop by a local center or call Richard West at 643-6055.  Free. 

 #10 Free "Express Yourself" Art Program at Hixson Community Center. Therapeutic Recreation's newest program, "Express Yourself" is a free, inclusive program for individuals with and without disabilities ages 16 and up. Activities will include pottery, paper mache, mosaics, painting and more. Every Tuesday beginning Oct. 30-Nov. 27 and a special event on Thursday, Nov. 29.  6:30-7:30 p.m. 


Georgia DNR Law Enforcement Receives Grant To Promote Safe Boating

Agencies Announce Funding Agreement For Federal Trout Hatchery Operation, Tennessee Valley Stocking

Senator Lamar Alexander and representatives from the Tennessee Valley Authority, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency and Georgia Department of Natural Resources announced Friday a new agreement that will continue popular trout stocking programs in reservoirs and tailwaters of certain TVA dams across the region. Man Sought In Murder Of Woman On Lovell Road Commits Suicide In Gordon County Hotel

Terry Lee Releford, who police were seeking in the the murder of a woman on Lovell Road on Sunday, has committed suicide. Federal Agents Seize Almost $6.8 Million From Bank Accounts Of Physician; Says He Has Submitted False Medicare Claims

Federal authorities have seized almost $6.8 million from bank accounts of an area physician. They said Dr. Raymond Sean Brown has submitted false Medicare claims. Location Of The Delta Queen Is The Problem

The Delta Queen is a magnificent part of history and in many ways I'm pleased she is in town. Having the boat where she is is the problem. The boat blocks the view of and from the prettiest park in our town.
