WUSY 101 announced Wednesday that Bill “Dex” Poindexter will be inducted into the Country Music On-Air Personality Hall of Fame.  The induction ceremony will take place at the Nashville Convention Center in February 2013 during the Country Radio Seminar.  Dex is the co-host of The Dex and Mo Show which broadcasts weekdays from 3-7:00 p.m. on US-101.

The Country Music On-Air Personality Hall of Fame was founded 1974 and is dedicated to the recognition of those individuals who have made significant contributions to the country radio/music industry.  This honor comes to Dex, the Chattanooga area native, after more than 41 years of working in the radio and music industry.  He began his radio career at WRIP in Rossville, Ga. while still in high school, but left at the age of 22 to begin working in the record industry.  During that time Dex worked with ABC, United Artist and RCA Records, promoting artists like Jimmy Buffet, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Jefferson Starship, Hall & Oates and many more.  After more than 12 years on the road, he returned to his hometown and teamed up with David Earl Hughes to launch The Dave & Dex Show on US-101.  After Dave passed away in 2004, Dex teamed up with Melissa “Mo” Turner Wagner to create The Dex and Mo Show which was honored by the Country Music Association with the 2010 Radio Personality of the Year Award.

“I am truly humbled by this honor and could have never done this alone.  I will share it with the entire US-101 team both past and present, especially Sammy George, David Hughes, Melissa Turner and Clay Hunnicutt,” said Dex.  “I also want to send a special thank you to our loyal listeners and all who have supported me over the years.”

“The knowledge I have learned from Dex while working with him over the past eight years is irreplaceable,” said Mo.  “He has been my mentor, best friend and has always been Hall of Fame worthy.  I’m thrilled to see him receive this level of recognition after all his years of hard work including the love, time and attention he gives to US-101 and the Chattanooga community.”

Fans can listen to The Dex and Mo Show on US-101 via the station’s website, www.us101country.com, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app.

Roy Exum: So How Am I Really Doing?

I’ve gotten hundreds of jokes since Tuesday when I wrote about feeling a little puny lately and expressing my belief that laughter is the best medicine. After breaking some bones in my arm as I slept last week and having no idea there were already some other fractures, it looked pretty certain I had a case of “The Big C.” I’ve always felt that stands for “courage” but the medical ...
