The new Lookout Hiking Club will have its first outing on Saturday morning.
Those interested should meet at 9 a.m.at Cravens House.
The hike will go past the Civil War rifle pits (or ancient rock formations?), along the old Broad Gauge Railroad past the CCC (trail builders) Camp Demeray, to switchback, down Skyuka Trail, take old Light Mill Road trail (very early wagon road from Light's Mill on Lookout Creek to junction with 1803 Federal Road) and back to the Broad Gauge.
For those who want a shorter hike, there is a shortcut at the switchback.
The route is mostly level or downhill and will go at a leisurely pace.
The club plans to explore many of the trails along the length of Lookout Mountain in the coming months.
