Outdoor Chattanooga Hosts “Come Out And Play Day” At River Rocks Grand Finale Oct. 13

The City of Chattanooga Parks and Recreation Department’s Outdoor Chattanooga Division will be open for free, public programs and activities at their Coolidge Park facility on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., during the River Rocks Festival Grand Finale.

Outdoor Chattanooga will host free kids climbing, free demonstrations of the Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit System, displays of some new outdoor toys and information about Parks and Recreation programs like the Rapid Learning Whitewater program, the Chattanooga Park Stewards and Therapeutic Recreation programs.

The public is invited to try the City of Chattanooga’s Bike Chattanooga Bicycle Transit system for free. Sign up for a free demo and receive a free 24 hour pass.  Participants will also be eligible for free Bike Chattanooga T-shirt giveaways and the grand prize, a free year’s membership for the system. 

Sylvan Sport will have its new “GO” ultralight popup camper on hand and Outdoor Chattanooga’s traverse climbing wall will be open all day for free kids climbing. Every kid who climbs gets a prize and climbers from Rocky Top Guides will be on hand to demonstrate belay technique for the public.

The City of Chattanooga’s Therapeutic Recreation Division will offer bicycle ride teasers for people with cognitive and physical disabilities from 2-4 p.m., and the Chattanooga Park Stewards will sign up volunteers for their ongoing parks programs.

Free, self service bicycle parking will be available in front of the Outdoor Chattanooga center.

A Chattanooga man was stabbed to death after an argument on Friday night.
