Animals To Be Blessed At St. Paul's Episcopal

Dr. Donald Fishburne will lead a Christian Education class at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 805 West 7th St., on Sunday, Oct. 7 and 21 on "Companions in Joy -- Building Strong Marriages," at 9:30 a.m. in Key-Andrews Hall. Families and Faith at 9:15 a.m. in Ava Wright Room is studying the book "Shepherding a Child's Heart." The class is open to parents with children of any age.  "The ABCs of Christianity" will be Oct. 7-21 at 9:15 and is a series of short classes for people who have little or no experience of church.

Blessing of the Animals will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday on the front lawn or in Key-Andrews Hall in case of rain.  A Choral Evensong featuring Canticles by Thomas Attwood Walmisley and music by Baynon, Moe, Sanders and White will be at 4 p.m. with a reception following.

Churchwide Missions Lunch Is Sunday At Signal Mountain Baptist

A churchwide mission lunch will be at noon this Sunday, at Signal Mountain Baptist Church, 939 Ridgeway Ave. All donations for the meal will go toward youth mission trips this summer. Federal Agents Seize Almost $6.8 Million From Bank Accounts Of Physician; Says He Has Submitted False Medicare Claims

Federal authorities have seized almost $6.8 million from bank accounts of an area physician. They said Dr. Raymond Sean Brown has submitted false Medicare claims. Woman Found Dead On Lovell Road; Police Looking For Terry Releford

A woman was found dead on Sunday morning at 8912 Lovell Road, and police are seeking a "person of interest" in the case. Deputies responded to that location at approximately 8 a.m. on a suspicious death. On arrival "deputies found a dead female in her 30s deceased from an apparent homicide."
