Chickstock is a 10+ year-old family-friendly bluegrass festival held on Oct. 13, at beautiful Greenway farms each fall. This year, it will also serve as the after-party for fitness challenge – Hellbender – which will be going on from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., with Chickstock festivities kicking off at high noon, and running until 6 p.m..
North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy Director Gregory Vickrey said, “A packed day of athletic events and Chickstock is the perfect way to support two great causes and we look forward to a great turnout.”
The 2012 line-up includes the local and regional bluegrass bands: Hill City Billies, Knob Creek Girls, Bluetastic Fangrass, Snake Doctors, Slim Pickins and headlining this years Chickstock event is the Dirt Daubers. There will also be local food, brew, a kids area, and vendors setup throughout the day.
There is a suggested donation price of $25 ($30 day-of) for unlimited beer by CBC and Big River (until supplies run out) and $15 for Hellbender racers.
100% of profits from this full day of fun will benefit two social and environmental organizations. Unbroken, a non-profit venture founded by the owners of Crossfit Brigade, will make the crossfit discipline accessible to at-risk and underserved youth in the Chattanooga area. Regional environmental group North Chickamauga Creek Conservancy (NCCC) will establish a comprehensive biological survey (including the Hellbender salamander!) throughout the watershed and beyond.
