Area La-Z-Boy Agencies To Host “Build a Chair” Event At Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House

Monday, October 08, 2012

The Chattanooga Ronald McDonald House will be the site of La-Z-Boy’s first local “Build a Chair” event Oct. 18.

The “Build a Chair” event is a philanthropic training effort between the La-Z-Boy manufacturing warehouse in Dayton, Tn., the corresponding La-Z-Boy Furniture gallery at Hamilton Place Mall and the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Greater Chattanooga. The program will provide training for sales associates and new employees in the process of chair production and will result in the completion of a La-Z-Boy recliner specially constructed, with the help of current RMHC family residents, for donation to the Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga.

Beginning at 6 p.m. in the House Living Room, families, volunteers and La-Z-Boy associates will work together, under the supervision of seasoned warehouse professionals, to build a La-Z-Boy recliner from its basic parts to its fully finished form. Friends and local supporters of the Ronald McDonald House are invited to participate in the construction of the chair, which when completed will contribute to providing a “home away from home” for those the Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga serves.

La-Z-Boy’s “Build a Chair” program, based out of the Tennessee La-Z-Boy manufacturing facility, has benefitted a number of Ronald McDonald House Chapters throughout the country since La-Z-Boy became an official RMHC partner four years ago. Since 2008, La-Z-Boy has been the official furniture provider for RMHC, during which time over 3,500 pieces of furniture have been donated to more than 150 Ronald McDonald House Charities across the U.S. and Canada.
