A Criminal Court jury found William Valentine guilty as charged of attempted first degree murder and aggravated assault in an incident that happened in front of a liquor store on Manufacturers Road in August 2010.
He faces 15-25 years for the attempted first-degree murder and 3-6 years for aggravated assault.
Judge Barry Steelman will set the sentence Dec. 11.
Valentine was taken into custody after the jury verdict following a week-long trial. Some of his family members began screaming and they had to be escorted from the courtroom.
Valentine testified that he had been ganged by Marquel Lane and a number of others at the Fireside Lounge on Hixson Pike four days before the shooting incident.
He said on the day of the shooting he was with William Moore and a man known only as "Magic" when he saw Lane sitting in a car at Riverside Wine and Spirits. He said Lane began mouthing at him and threatened him with brass knuckles so he began shooting.
Prosecutors were Bret Alexander and Carl Haskins.
