A school crossing guard is in the hospital after being hit by a car Thursday morning.
Authorities with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office were called at 6:48 a.m. to Hunter Middle School at 5973 Hunter Road regarding a pedestrian struck. When deputies arrived, they found that Elizabeth Drew, who is a school crossing guard for HCSO, had been hit by a vehicle while working her job post.
Based upon the on-scene investigation as well witness statements, it was found that Ms. Drew was hit by a vehicle pulling from Teal Road onto Hunter Road. Ms. Drew was wearing all safety equipment required in the performance of her job duties. She was transported by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services to an area hospital and the extent of her injuries is not known.
The driver of the 2008 Honda involved, Camille Godwin, was given a citation for failure to exercise drivers due care.
