For many people in the community, First Things First’s Families on the Run kicks off the holiday season. Now in its 8th year, this fun family event takes place on Saturday, Dec. 1, and consists of competitive 5K and 10K races and a non-competitive Santa Stroll.
The course begins and ends at the Hunter Museum of American Art along Chattanooga’s waterfront. Registration begins at 6 a.m. and the race starts at 7:45 a.m.
Registration is $25 for individuals and $40 for a family of four through Friday, Nov. 30. The fee includes race entry, a hot breakfast with healthy food options and a goody bag. Long sleeved T-shirts are guaranteed to the first 400 registrants. Families on the Run will also host a Holiday Party filled with fun activities for the entire family at the downtown SportsBarn from 8-10 a.m. Last year, we reached maximum capacity and expect the same this year, so participants are encouraged to register early.
“Our goal is to keep the race affordable, and offer families a great way to spend quality time together to kick off the holiday season,” says FTF President and CEO Julie Baumgardner.
Participants may enter as individuals, as a family, or a couple team. Festive Holiday Attire is recommended. Individuals and teams are also asked to collect contributions from their families and friends to support the organization’s community initiatives. All proceeds from Families on the Run benefit First Things First, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening marriages and families in the Chattanooga area.
Runners are encouraged to pick up their race day packets on Friday, Nov. 30, from 2-6 p.m. at the Downtown SportsBarn.
