Archie Herman “ Humpy” Hegwood, age 87, of LaFayette, Ga., died on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Heritage Health Care.

Mr. Hegwood was born February 10, 1925 in LaFayette, Ga., the son of the late William Perry Hegwood and Emma Cornelia Curry Hegwood. He was retired from Riegel Textile. He was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church LaFayette, and he was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church, Chickamauga. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorene Parker Hegwood; sisters, Thelma Montgomery and Eula Bauchum; and brothers, Fred Hegwood, Bill Hegwood, Roy Hegwood, Alton Hegwood, and Walton Hegwood.

Mr. Hegwood is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joel and Linda Hegwood; grandson and wife, Neil and Joella Hegwood; great grandchild, Abbigail Hegwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13, in LaFayette City Cemetery. Reverend Mike Peterson and Reverend Chuck Romaine will officiate. Active pallbearers will be Randall Cagle, Lloyd Mitchell, Jerry Keown, Buddy Day, Bob Chapman, and Barry Hollis.

Mr. Hegwood will be in state at Second Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13.
