Free Meter Parking Announced For Holidays

The Chattanooga Parking Authority has announced downtown parking meters will not be enforced (and need not be paid) on Thanksgiving Day and the Friday following.

Additionally, paid parking will be suspended on meter parking for the following holidays:

New Year’s Day

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Good Friday

Memorial Day

Independence Day

Labor Day

Christmas Day

Parking in an unlawful area (bus or loading zone, yellow curb, no parking, handicap space, Fort Wood Residential District, etc.) are enforceable 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

City Placing New Penalties On Use Of Cell Phones In School Zone And By Drivers Under 18

The city is setting new penalties for use of cell phones in school zones.  Drivers 18 and older may not use hand-held devices while in the zones, but they can be on their hands-free units. Woman Who Stole Almost $2 Million From Lookout Mountain Art Dealer To Plead Guilty To Federal Bank Fraud

A bookkeeper for Lookout Mountain art dealer Frank Fowler who stole almost $2 million from him is now facing federal bank fraud charges. Authorities said Francine Labbe has agreed to plead guilty in the case. Prosecutor said Ms. Labbe embezzled $1,954,083. With interest, the amount owed to Mr. Fowler was over $2 million.
