McMinnville Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Enticement Of Minor For Sexual Activity

  • Monday, November 19, 2012
David Eli Cramer, 52, of McMinnville, Tn., was sentenced on Monday, to serve 10 years in prison by the Honorable J. Ronnie Greer, U.S. District Judge. Cramer pleaded guilty in May 2012 to a federal indictment charging him with enticement of a minor for illegal sexual activity and attempted production of child pornography.

Cramer was also ordered to remain on supervised release for the remainder of his life, complete a residential sex offender treatment program and a 500-hour substance abuse treatment program, pay a $100 special assessment, and comply with special conditions of release regarding his proximity to children, use of computers and the internet, and travel.

Cramer was identified when he contacted an undercover law enforcement officer posing as a 14-year-old girl and arranged to meet her at her apartment in Morristown for sexual activity.  Items found in his vehicle correlated to his intent to engage a child in sexual intercourse.

Cramer was convicted of six child sex offenses in 2007 in Bradley County, Tn., and is a registered sex offender.

The indictment and subsequent conviction of Cramer was the result of an investigation conducted by the Morristown, Tennessee Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit (ICAC), the McMinnville Police Department, and the Knoxville ICAC Unit.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Helen Smith represented the United States.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorneys' Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, PSC marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children, and to identify and rescue victims.
