An assisted living employee has been arrested for stealing jewelry from elderly residents.

Lindsey Kaye Skinner, 24, of 216 W. Gordon Avenue #B, Rossville, was charged with aggravated burglary and theft over $500.

Officers said they began investigating thefts at Elmcroft Assisted Living at 7127 Lee Highway.

A woman age 84 and her husband age 91 said several jewelry items had been stolen from their room between July 22-25.

They said on July 22 Ms. Skinner entered their room while they were sleeping. They said they heard her and asked her to leave. They said they did not notice any items missing until several days later.

The couple said during the time that items came up missing they were in the hospital on two occasions.

In all, they said, four boxes of jewelry were stolen.

Police said they found that on July 24 Ms. Skinner pawned several items at Kennedy Jewelry on E. Main Street.

Two of the items were identified by the couple as belonging to them - a gold Masonic ring with Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree insignia on the side and a gold Masonic ring with emblem.
