Environmental Summit Will Be Nov. 14

The Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association announces its first full-day Environmental Summit scheduled for Nov. 14 at the Chattanooga Convention and Trade Center.  The conference is designed to specifically address and educate local manufacturers, businesses and professionals on current and developing environmental issues affecting organizations today.

Keynote Speaker Commissioner Robert Martineau of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will give an environmental overview of Tennessee.  Emma Williams of Shaw Industries, Inc. will focus her keynote presentation around sustainability and share key aspects of Shaw’s sustainability approach.

One of the many goals of the Summit is to provide attendees with information and resources by offering 20 breakout sessions led by experts in the topics of air, water, waste, regulatory and training. Attendees will have the options of choosing which sessions they would like to attend in hopes of ensuring that they receive information that will be of greatest value and benefit to them and their organizations.

The Environmental Summit is open to the general public. The cost for members of the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturers Association is $100 per attendee, and the cost of all other attendees is $150. This fee includes breakfast, lunch, break refreshments, and conference materials. Senator Alexander Speaks At Better Business Bureau Luncheon Tuesday

Dog Fighting Operation Uncovered On Talledega Avenue

TBI was executing a narcotics search warrant at 6302Talladega Ave. in Chattanooga on Friday and uncovered a dog fighting operation. Officials said it consisted of numerous pit bills, a fight ring, a treadmill and blood-stained carpets and paneling. Mcckamey Animal Services personnel were processing the fight scene. City May Move Forward On $47 Million Wilcox Tunnel Project

City officials may move forward on a $47 million project to upgrade the narrow Wilcox Tunnel through Missionary Ridge. The City Council on Tuesday is to consider a resolution to apply for a $25 million federal TIGER grant. The city would still have to come up with $21,825,000 through "local funds or grants."
