Tribute to Dr. Winston Caine Jr., 1937-2012

The passing of Dr. Winston Caine last week has left a void in the hearts of the Chattanooga medical community. A specialist in internal medicine and hematology since 1967, Dr. Caine was devoted to his many patients and to excellence in medicine.

Dr. Caine was chief of staff for Erlanger Health System from 1989-1991 and served as Erlanger’s chief of Hematology for many years. At the time of his death, he was still sharing his vast medical knowledge with medical students, residents, and other physicians in his role as a professor at the UT College of Medicine Chattanooga, based at Erlanger. He was also actively seeing patients at Academic Internal Medicine.

Through the years, he received numerous awards for excellence in medicine, including the 2009 Distinguished Physician Award from the Baroness Erlanger Foundation and the 2010 Augustus McCravey Award for a Lifetime of Excellence in Medical Education.

Chattanooga benefited greatly from his medical expertise and compassion. Dr. Winston Caine, you will be sorely missed.

Thanks, Sheriff

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department is very responsive and professional out in Apison, and I appreciate that.  We have some fine deputies serving Hamilton County.    I took a minute to call and tell them thank you, I hope my neighbors will also. Brian Wood Apison (click for more)
