Secularist Flynn To Speak On UTC Campus On Dec. 7

  • Thursday, November 29, 2012

Author Tom Flynn will speak at an event sponsored by the UTC Secular Student Alliance.

Mr. Flynn  made headlines in 1993 with his first book The Trouble with Christmas tracing the development of the holiday tradition and non-religious approaches to it. He went on to publish several satirical science fiction novels exploring unbelief including Galactic Rapture and Nothing Sacred. He edited The New Encyclopedia of Unbelief, which contained contributions from Noam Chomsky, Steven Pinker, Peter Singer, and Robert Dawkins.

In addition to his books, he serves as the editor of the magazine Free Inquiry and executive director for The Council for Secular Humanism.

Mr.  Flynn will be sharing his vision for the future of the Secularist movement through his presentation.

The event will be held at the UTC University Center auditorium on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
