City officials said they have filled a big sinkhole that threatened to undermine Hickory Valley Road.
Steve Leach, public works administrator, said the opening was 5'x11' and 100' long."
"We were about to lose our road," he said of the cavern near Ridgedale Baptist Church.
"A lot of material was pumped into it," he said.
Cost of the project was just under $85,000.
City Engineer Bill Payne said the cause of the collapse is unknown, but he said it was not related to any nearby leaky water pipes.
