Red Bank Mayor Millard Upset By Causer; Lusk, Wallace, Allen Stay In Office On Signal; Shipley, Adams, Skates Win In Soddy Daisy; Akins Is Walden Mayor

Red Bank Mayor Monty Millard was upset by challenger Rick Causer in Tuesday's election. It was 811 for Causer and 647 for Millard.

With one precinct still out, it was Causer 2,091 and Millard 1,612.

Eddie Pierce was the only candidate for the seat being vacated by Ruth Jeno and Kenneth Welch was unopposed.

Incumbents Bill Lusk and Annette Allen along with challenger Frank Preston were ahead after early returns for the Signal Mountain Council, but it was close. It was Lusk 1,120, Allen 1,016, Frank Preston 955, incumbent Bill Wallace 950 and Joe Dumas 642.

In the end, incumbents Lusk, Allen and Wallace prevailed.

Totals were Lusk 2,482, Allen 1,016, Wallace 2,336, Allen 2,308, Preston 2,253 and Joe Dumas 1,758.

Incumbents Gene-O Shipley and Jim Adams and challenger Patti Skates won seats in Soddy Daisy.

Commissioner Shipley was the leading votegetter followed by Mayor Adams. Ms. Skates narrowly edged incumbent Shane Harmon for the third open spot. 

It was Shipley 2,672, Adams 2,114, Skates 1,398, incumbent Shane Harmon 1,349, Les Jewell 1,245, David Smith 1,106, Garland Johnson 1,005 and Mark Bivens 974.   

Elizabeth Akins narrowly defeated Peter Hetzler for mayor of Walden - 544 to 513.

In the Walden alderman voting, it was David Epperson 832 and Bill Trohanis 815.

In Lakesite voting, David Howell had 763 and John McPherson 685.

Home On Old Mill Lane Damaged By Fire

A home was damaged by fire on Wednesday morning in the Middle Valley area. A homeowner called 911 at 11:50 a.m., reporting a kitchen fire at 1031 Old Mill Lane. The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded within minutes .  Once firefighters gained entry into the house, they reported fire on the stove and the kitchen cabinets.
