Prayer And Politics - And Response (2)

  • Wednesday, November 7, 2012

To all those who believe in prayer, I have a sincere question for you.  Did Obama win because more people prayed for him than for Romney?   Or was it simply God’s will for Obama to win, in spite of all the prayers from Romney supporters?  As someone who does pray, how God answers those prayers has always perplexed me.

There are a lot of people waking up this morning with unanswered prayers.  I’d like to know why they think their prayer went unanswered.  Was it God’s will and he has a plan that is too big for us to see?  Or did he want Romney to win but changed his mind due to the overwhelming power of prayers for Obama?  Or does God just stay out of politics?

I noticed this morning that my Bible doesn’t read:

Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne set in heaven, and the One who sat on the throne was suddenly toppled over in shock and despair by the unexpected re-election of Barack Obama to the American presidency.

But that it does still say:

“Why do the nations rage,
And the people plot a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves,
And the rulers take counsel together,
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us break Their bonds in pieces
And cast away Their cords from us.”

He who sits in the heavens shall laugh;
The Lord shall hold them in derision.
Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,
And distress them in His deep displeasure:
“Yet I have set My King
On My holy hill of Zion.” (Psalm 2:1-6, NKJV)

Furthermore, God also says:

“If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14 NKJV)

Fellow Christians, in case we haven’t noticed, this promise requires that CHRISTIANS meet the conditions of humbling themselves, and praying, and seeking God’s face, and turning from their wicked ways. When that happens, God will heal our land.

God is still on His throne. But, He does require us to do our part to see this nation healed. Am I meeting the conditions? Are you?

Gag, Jamie,

I think what Hayley said is thought provoking and your Biblical quotes are nice and correct.  But its comments like your: "Fellow Christians, in case we haven’t noticed, this promise requires that CHRISTIANS" are what drive religiously inspired moderates into the arms of the secular Hollywood liberals.  Thus Obama wins.  God does not exist just for the evangelical Christians.  And until the freakish ultra right recognize that they are not the only ones that get to go to heaven, then the Dems will control the White House from here on out.
