Governor Bill Haslam has selected assistant district attorney Lila Statom as a General Sessions Court judge.

She takes the place of Judge Ron Durby, who left the bench after citing medical reasons.

Ms. Statom is a longtime mainstay in the criminal division of General Sessions Court, directing the handling of cases for the district attorney's office.

She is the second female judge on the court - joining Christie Sell.

Others are Gary Starnes, David Bales and Clarence Shattuck.

Ms.

Statom is a Red Bank High School graduate who went on to get her law degree at Memphis State University and a master's in law at Emory University.

She joined the prosecutor's office in Nashville in 1989, and joined the staff of District Attorney Bill Cox in 1998.
