Damon Russell Corwine was born September 28, 1980 to Steven E. and Marcia D. (Layton) Corwine in Ottawa, Kansas. Damon died on December 10, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Oren L. Corwine and Glenn F. Layton and his aunt, Annette Bowman.
His family moved to Fort Collins, Co., where he attended and graduated from Front Range Baptist Academy. He also attended Colorado State University.
Damon had many and varied interests. From the time he was very young, he was a voracious reader. During high school and college he worked to learn whatever he could about sports medicine and used what he learned with his high school soccer and basketball teams. He loved Colorado, hunting, coin collecting, photography and Parkway Bible Chapel in Ringgold, Georgia. He currently enjoyed his Tuesday evening soccer team and had a new found love of running. More than anything in this life, he loved his children, Wesley, Hannah and Ruthie. You didn’t have to be around him long to know he thoroughly enjoyed anything and everything they were doing.
Damon was employed at Pilgrims (JBS) at the Chattanooga plant since 2005. He currently held the position of Cold Storage Manager.
Damon is survived by his children, Wesley, Hannah and Ruthie of Ooltewah; his parents, Steve and Marci Corwine of Windsor, Co.; his siblings and their spouses Doug and Liz Corwine, Centennial, Co., Rebecca and Chad Ferguson, Jamestown, Pa.; Dan and Caroline Corwine, Westminster, Co.; his grandmothers, Elizabeth (Betty) Corwine, Overbrook, Ks., and Carolyn Layton, Wellsville, Ks., and other family members.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday Dec. 17, at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Mike Bower and Reverend Eric Stitts officiating. Damon will be laid to rest in Windsor, Co.
