Frank Hunter Thomas, Jr. “Bud”, 81, of Ooltewah, died on Monday, December 17, 2012 following a lengthy illness.  

He was born October 19, 1931 in Chattanooga to the late Elsie and Frank H. Thomas, Sr.

Mr. Thomas was of the Baptist faith and attended Morris Hill Baptist Church.  He was retired from Averitt Express after 20 years of service. 

His son, Troy Thomas, and sisters, Elizabeth Taylor and Mildred Combs preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Sharon Benton Thomas; daughter, Tena (Perry) Leibowitz of Rockledge, Florida; son, Dale (Jill) Thomas of Ooltewah; grandchildren, Marcus Leibowitz, Zackary Leibowitz, Addie Thomas and Lilah Thomas; and great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Leibowitz.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Dr. Keith McLeod officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 19, from 5-8:30 p.m., and Friday, from 12-1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
