Teresa Anne McBroom Merritt, 57, of Rossville, died on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at her residence.  

She was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and Rossville area.  Anne was known for her generosity and enormous heart, and she took care of many of the neighborhood children becoming known as “Miss Anne”.  Anne also had a love for animals and took care of many strays over the years.  Her passions in life were her family, her grandchildren who referred to her as Mimi, her friends, and taking care of others.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ed “Big Ed” McBroom; and grandmother, Geneva Keller.

Survivors include her husband of 33½ years, Dennis Merritt; two daughters, Brandi (Eric) Coleman of Ringgold and Rachel Lewis of Chattanooga; mother, Wanda McBroom of Ringgold; two grandchildren, Hailey Merritt of Ringgold and Olivia Coleman of Ringgold; two brothers, Charles Edward McBroom, II of Ooltewah and Monty McBroom of Ringgold; sister, Pam Blackwell of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 21, at 3:30 p.m. in the South Crest Chapel with Brother Fate Thomas officiating.

Interment will follow in the Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Dec. 20, from 4-8 p.m., and Friday from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, located at the end of Historic Missionary Ridge, Rossville.
