A couple of thoughts on this 4th District mess that's already brewing around Rep. Scott Desjarlais and the next election:

1.  Congressman Desjarlais lied all during his re-election campaign.
2.  He was re-elected by those who fell for his lies.

3. There are two Tennessee state legislators who've already announced they want to run against him in 2014. 

I'm in the process of moving into the Rutherford County area where these two elected legislators apparently live.  Neither one of these guys will get my vote because their egos tell them they can serve in one position while running for another.  I know all my friends are fed up with arrogance like this and that's exactly what it is.

And this Desjarlais guy needs to figure out which story he's going to stick by and move on.  Another type of arrogance that serves no good to think you can lie and get away with it. 

At this point, the names already mentioned for the US Congressional seat in District 4 all have two things in common.  They are arrogant and committed politicians, not public servants.

Well said, Mr. Seth Haglin.  When are people gonna wake up and quit re-electing the same politicians that are there for their own benefit.   

There has never been a time when term limits need to be implemented more than now.  I for one am tired of career politicians. They are all self-serving.

After working nearly 20 years in the federal political realm, and then during the 2010 Tennessee governor's race, I came to two conclusions in August 2010: 

1- No candidate should be allowed to contribute any more than a regular contributor to his own campaign.

2- if a person is presently holding any elected office, and wants to run for a different office, he/she should be required to vacate their present elected seat immediately after they file the required paperwork. None of this "hold my seat till I get back." if you want to run for a different office, then have the intestinal fortitude to let someone else take over the duties you will not be attending to while your ego tells you that you have a shot at another office. 

The problem with these two suggestions, and it is sad, is that the people who would have to vote to change these rules are the very ones guilty of doing it. So, that being said, nothing will ever change until the egotistical politicians who break these rules begin to listen to the constituents and do the right thing. 

I can guarantee you that I will never, ever vote for any candidate who breaks either/both of these rules I have decided upon.....and I defy anyone to tell me why I am wrong.
