Tennessee And Georgia School Teacher Volunteered With Changed Lives

Martha Wyatt McMahan, 96, of Chattanooga, died on Friday, December 21, 2012.  

Mrs. McMahan was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Wyatt and was born and reared in Chickamauga.  

She was a graduate of Gordon Lee High School where she was very active in school clubs and sports. She graduated from the University of Chattanooga in 1938, was a member of Chi Omega and was an elementary school teacher in Georgia and Tennessee.  She was a longtime member of the Chickamauga Presbyterian Church before moving to Chattanooga and going to the First Presbyterian Church.  At one time, she was a volunteer for Changed Lives.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William McMahan, Jr.; son, Eugene Wyatt McMahan; sister, Dorothy Hardeman (Ralph) of Columbia, S.C.; brothers, Henderson Wyatt (Sara) of Dalton, and Knox Wyatt (Carol) of Amelia Island, Fla.

Survivors include her son, William “Bill” Allison III and wife, Debbie; grandchildren, Knox and Allison; great-grandson, Nicholas Wyatt LaPorta.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, in Chattanooga National Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to Chickamauga Presbyterian Church, First Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Chattanooga.

Ernest Hickman, 55, of Decatur, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his residence. Ernest was a son of the late Warner and Doris Hickman and had lived in the Decatur area for over 30 years. A new lawsuit in the tragic Woodmore Elementary School bus wreck said one girl on the bus suffered a severe traumatic brain injury. Officer Who Was Shot Returned Fire; Is Recovering Well; Shooter Still On Loose

Chattanooga Police Chief Fred Fletcher said Monday morning that the officer who was shot three times on Thursday is recovering well.   Chief Fletcher said the officer was wearing a bullet-proof vest and one bullet hit the vest, which protected him during the shooting.  The officer was able to return fire, although Chief Fletcher would not comment on how many bullets ...
