Robert William Chamlee, 65, of Ringgold, Georgia, died on Sunday, December 30, 2012 in a local hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 28, 1947, in Atlanta, to John Henry and Adele Chamlee.  Robert was a graduate of Perry High School and Georgia Tech with a degree in Civil Engineering. He then received his Master’s degree from Oklahoma State University and retired from the Corp of Engineers, Mobile, Ala., as a Geo-Technical section chief after 37 years of service. He moved to the Chattanooga area in 2002 where he worked for Arcadis Engineering for 10 years. 

Mr. Chamlee was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his loving wife, Audrey Tolbert Chamlee, a native of Mobile, Alabama; mother and father, Adele and John Henry Chamlee of Jonesboro, Ga.; sisters, Sandra (Richard) Brockmann, Perry, Ga., and Susan (Phillip) Sligh of Sharpsburg, Ga.; daughters, Dawn (Jamie) Hughes, Griffin, Ga., and Theresa A. Hill, Willis, Tx.; sons, Michael (Jessica) Chamlee, Smyrna, Ga., Michael G. (Shannon) Wright, Gladbrook, Ia.; grandsons, Cole and John Ryan Hughes and Michael Eric Wright; granddaughters, Ashley Hughes, Lana Chamlee, Pamela Hill, Nicole (Andy) Majors; great-grandchildren, Shai Majors and Hailey Majors; aunt, Lillie Williamson; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 2, at 4 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church with Reverend David Hall officiating.  Interment will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Westview Cemetery, Atlanta. 

Phillip Sligh, Chuck Wilson, Jamie Hughes, Michael Chamlee, Jack Carroll and Ed Williamson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Good News Sunday School Class Members of Christ United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the service hour at Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.
