“Given the President’s remarks this afternoon, we call upon Senators Alexander and Corker and Rep. Fleischmann to support the agreement currently on the table that will prevent taxes from going up on 98 percent of their constituents,” said Hamilton County Democratic Party Chairman Paul Smith.
He said President Obama noted that "Americans are expecting their leaders to think about their constituents, not lobbyists and special interests."
Mr. Smith said. “Unfortunately, at least in the case of Rep.
Fleischmann, we still see a commitment to Grover Norquist’s pledge, and not to the people of his district.
“We support the president’s efforts to move this forward and get back to the business of growing our economy and getting people back to work.”
