Lifeguard Ambulance Teams Up With East Ridge Elementary Schools For Heart Disease Awareness Month

Wednesday, February 01, 2012

Not only is Cupid aiming for the heart in February, so will be the EMS Cupids from Lifeguard Ambulance Service and several City of East Ridge elementary schools, as they team up for Heart Disease Awareness month.

February is National Heart Disease Awareness month. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women,” (www.cdc.gov).

Lifeguard believes in the importance of early education for children on healthy eating habits and proper exercise to avoid the risks associated with heart disease. In conjunction with the local school officials, Lifeguard’s paramedics and EMTs will be providing important preventative information to elementary students about the causes of heart disease and ways to prevent future health problems. The students will also get to tour the ambulances during the day’s event.

Along with the lessons learned, Lifeguard team members will also help the children decorate Valentine’s Day cards for their parents, grandparents, and/or other caregivers. The heart-shaped cards will say, “My Heart Beats for You” and will contain a cardiac rhythm strip from an EKG report on the inside.

Lifeguard is one of two ambulance services that provides 911/emergency services to the City of East Ridge. Lifeguard is also the preferred provider for Parkridge Health Systems. For more information about Lifeguard Ambulance Service, please visit the website at www.lifeguardambulance.com.

If you have further questions or you would like to be present during one of the events, please contact Chattanooga’s Operations Manager, Jim Webber at 499-9500.

More recently he has emerged as one of the leading ... (click for more)
