Willie Chaney

Willie L. Chaney, 77, died at his residence on February 5, 2012.

He was born in Social Circle, Ga. He was a faithful and active member of Harris Chapel AME Church.

Willie had been a star athlete at Howard High School and played baseball with several teams of the city. He was a member of the class of 1956 of Howard High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Estelle and Lucious Chaney; son, Jared Andrews and brother, Alonzo Chaney.

He is survived by a son, Michael Chaney; grandson, Jared Andrews; granddaughters, Veneacia and Brittany Chaney; special friend, Flossie Batts; aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 12, in the chapel with Reverend McDaniel Bowman officiating. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery.

The body will lie state after noon on Saturday, February 11, with the family receiving friends from 6-7 p.m. at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Ave., 622-9995.
