Valine Barnett, 91, of Chattanooga, died on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 in a local health care facility. 

She was a faithful member of Friendship Primitive Baptist Church and later moved her membership to New United Church where she worshipped until her health declined.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Florence and Dythulia Moore; husband, Ruther Barnett; sisters, Fannie Gaines, Annie Gaines and Mattie Milner; brother, James Moore. 

Survivors include her daughter, Ruby (Cecil) Hines; grandchildren, Darika (John) Priest, Felisa Jackson, Monica Jackson, all of Chattanooga and Valerie Howell of Jacksonville, Fla.; five great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mentory Parks; nephew, Jerome (Cathy) Dorsey of Atlanta; several other relatives and friends.  

Mrs. Barnett will lie in state on Tuesday, February 14, after noon at Taylor Funeral Home.  

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, February 15, at 1 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeff Wilson officiating and Pastor W. McKinley Holloway as the eulogist. Burial will be in Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Barbara Ann Carr Hilliard, 85, of Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012.  A native of Abilene, Texas, she had resided in the North Georgia area for the past four years. Virgil C. Thomas, 99, of Kimball, Tennessee, died on Friday, May 11, 2012. Man Who Survived By "Playing Dead" Points To Talley, Grace As Robbers Involved In Shooting Of Him And Rapper Brikk
